BASF in Q3 2017 increased sales to EUR 15 billion
Sales of BASF in the third quarter of 2017 increased by 9% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to EUR 15.3 billion.
This is reported by the press service of the company.
The increase in sales occurred mainly due to the growth in volumes, as well as a significant increase in selling prices in the Chemicals segment. Sales also increased due to the acquisition of Chemetall in December 2016. In all segments, there was a slight negative impact caused by changes in exchange rates.
"The positive dynamics of demand remains in the third quarter of 2017. We have achieved significant growth in volumes, even compared to the high rates for the same period last year," said Dr. Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF.
High performance in the Chemicals segment allowed to increase income from operations (EBIT) before special items by EUR 244 million to EUR 1.8 billion.
According to the report, net profit increased by EUR 448 million to EUR 1.3 billion. Earnings per share amounted to EUR 1.45 compared to EUR 0.97 in the same quarter of the previous year. After adjusting for special items and amortization of intangible assets, earnings per share were EUR 1.40 (Q3 2016 — EUR 1.10).
Earlier it was reported that Bayer will sell BASF separate businesses of Crop Science for € 5.9 billion.
