Rapeseed production in Ukraine in 2017 should amount to 2.21 MT
In Ukraine, in 2017 rapeseed production will almost double (by 91.9%) and amount to 2.21 million tons. This growth is connected with the increase of the area under rapeseed by almost 1.8 times, and with the increase of its productivity by 7.4%.
This is reported by Yuri Lupenko, Director of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
He notes that after the record sunflower harvest of 13.63 million tons in 2016, its production in 2017 is projected at 12.05 million tons, which is 11.6% less than last year. This is caused by the decrease in productivity (9.4%) and area (2.4%).
"As a result of decreasing by 15.3% yields, which could not be compensated even by an increase in the area by 7.2%, the gross yield of soybeans will decrease by 9.2% to 3.88 million tons compared to last year," says Yuri Lupenko.
Earlier it was reported that in MY 2017/18 rapeseed may lead in terms of profitability of cultivation in Ukraine.
