Soybean production in the Danube region of Ukraine in 2017 decreased to 1.2 MT
In 2017, the total yield of soybeans in the territory of Ukraine which relates to the Danube region amounted to 1.23 million tons, which is 6.5% below the indicator a year earlier.
APK-Inform reports that this reduction was due to a 13% decrease in soybean yield to 1.8 t/ha, while the sown area, by contrast, increased 7.6% to 686.3 thousand hectares.
Ukraine is the largest soybean producer in the Danube region, providing about one third of the total gross harvest. In general, soybean production in 2017 in the Danube region, which in addition to Ukraine includes another 15 European states, is estimated at 3.94 million tons, 6.7% lower than last year.
Reference: Ukraine in September-December of MY 2017/18 exported 1.23 million tons of soybeans (-2.6% compared to the same period of MY 2016/17), which remains the second indicator close to the record of the previous season (1.26 million tons ).
