Harvest of oilseed crops in 2017 reached 18 MT

The yield of oilseeds in Ukraine in 2017 amounted to 18.3 million tons with a productivity of 2.06 tons/ha. Sown area totaled 8.9 million hectares.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported the harvested yields as follows:

• sunflower — 12.2 million tons harvested from 6 million hectares with the productivity of 2.01 t/ha;
• soybean — 3.9 million tons harvested from 2 million hectares with the productivity of 1.97 t/ha;
• rapeseed — 2.2 million tons harvested from 0.786 million hectares with the productivity of 2.79 t/ha.

The leaders in oilseeds production are Kirovograd (1.36 million tons), Dnepropetrovsk (1.31 million tons), Kharkov (1.21 million tons), Vinnitsa (1.2 million tons), Odessa (1.19 million tons) , Poltava (1.07 million tons) and Khmelnitsky (1.07 million tons) regions.

14.5 million tons of sugar beet were harvested from 0.311 million hectares with the productivity of 46.55 t/ha.

Reference: in December 2017, export of sunflower oil from Ukraine amounted to 412 thousand tons, which is 9.6% less compared to the previous month (456 thousand tons) and 26% less compared to December last year (557 thousand tons).
