Rye exports increased 2.3 times

From the beginning of 2017/18, as of March 20, the total rye export is estimated at 26.3 thou. tons, which is 2.3 times more than the volume of supplies for the entire 2016/17 (11.6 thou. tons), APK-Inform writes.

The volume of exports in January (3.8 thou. tons) and for 20 days in March (7.3 thou. tons) became the maximum monthly indicators since 2004/05.

"The intensification of foreign supplies of Ukrainian rye is noted against the background of a significant increase in production in the current season (up to 507 thou. tons in 2017 against 392 thou. tons in 2016). Domestic demand for rye has not increased significantly, as rye flour is actively imported, which compensates for the needs of bakers," the messagewrites.

Reference: export of Ukrainian grain in 2017 amounted to 41.8 mln tons, which is 3 times higher than in 2010 and 4% more than in 2016.
