Spring crops sowing campaign started in Ukraine

Spring crops sowing campaign started in Kherson and Nikolaev regions, Maxim Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, informed on his Facebook page.

As of April 2, in Kherson region 4 thou. hectares were sown with barley and 0.3 thou. ha — with peas. In Mykolayiv region, barley is farmed on 0.6 thou. hectares.

"The sowing areas for the harvest of 2018 will make up 27.2 million hectares, which corresponds to the indicator of 2017. As of March 30, Ukrainian farmers are 100% provided with seeds (638 thou. tons), 91% provided with PPP (27,4 thou. tons), 81% provided with fuel (326 thou. tons)," the message says.

As the Deputy Minister noted, 995 thou. tons of nutrients of mineral fertilizers are supposed to be used for carrying out the spring field works. As of March 30, 2018, agricultural enterprises have 979.6 thou. tons of mineral fertilizers, or 98% of the demand.

Previously it was reported that Ukraine increased duties on imports of mineral fertilizers from Russia to 42.96%.
