Export of sugar in Sep-Mar made up 338k tons

Ukraine in September-March 2017/18 exported 338.1 thou. tons of sugar. The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) informed that the main deliveries in March were carried out to the post-Soviet and African countries.

"50% of all supplies in March were made to Uzbekistan. In quantitative terms, it is 23.5 thou. tons. In addition, shipments to Turkey continued — 7.9 thou. tons, Somalia — 3.7 thou. tons, Tajikistan — 2.9 thou. tons, Benin — 1.8 thou. tons, and other countries — 7,3 thou. tons," commented Ruslana Butylo, Head of the Analytical Department at NASU Ukrsugar.

Earlier it was reported that sugar production in 2017/2018 increased 6.5% and amounted to 2.14 million tons. 46 sugar plants operated in the production season. According to the forecasts of the Association, the areas under sugar beet in 2018 are estimated at 285 thou. hectares.
