1.85 million hectares of early grains sown in Ukraine

As of April 20, 2018, all regions of Ukraine started sowing of early grain and leguminous crops. 1.85 mln ha are already sown (77% of the forecast). This was informed by Maxim Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Crops are sown in the following volumes:

  • spring barley — 1.2 mln ha;
  • oats — 125 thou. ha;
  • wheat — 124 thou. ha;
  • peas — 356 thou. ha.

Sowing of corn is carried out on the area of 327 thou. ha (7%), sunflower — 788 thou. ha (14%), soybean — 47 thou. ha (2%).

Earlier it was reported that agrarians of 19 regions of Ukraine as of April 18 started sowing of corn for grain, which was carried out on the area of 178 thou. ha, which made up 4% of the planned 4.6 mln ha.
