Sugar exports from Ukraine dropped 12%

In April of MY2017/18, Ukraine exported 41.8 thou. tons of sugar, which is 12 percent less than the previous month, the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) informs.

"Although, the dynamics of shipments has slightly decreased — in April by almost 12 percent less than in March, the geography of exports has not changed. The most deliveries were made to Uzbekistan — 55 percent," comments Ruslana Butylo, Head of the Analytical Department at NASU Ukrsugar.

In April, 12% of shipments were made to the UK, another 6% to Azerbaijan and about 15% to Moldova, Libya and Turkey.

In total, the export of sugar in September-April of MY2017/2018 amounts to 379.9 thou. tons.

Reference: in late April, experts reported that sugar prices fell by 25% to the lowest level in the last few years.

Note: Ukrainian sugar market in 2017 was dominated by 10 companies.
