Pork imports increased fivefold since early 2018

In January-April 2018, the import of pork to Ukraine increased 4.6 times to 3.31 thou. tons. Meat was imported for the amount of USD 5.91 million, Interfax-Ukraine writes.

Exports of pork in January-April 2018 decreased 3 times (to 809 tons) as compared to the corresponding period in 2017.

According to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, meat was delivered for the amount of USD 1.88 million against USD 4.7 million over four months of 2017. Over 57% of the exported volume was delivered to Hong Kong. Georgia and Vietnam account for almost 19% of Ukrainian pork exports each.

Reference: by 2026, a significant global increase in consumption of livestock products, in particular, meat is expected.
