Corn exports in Sep-May dropped 17%

In the period from September to May of MY2017/18, corn exports amounted to about 15 million tons, which is 17% less than in the corresponding period of the previous marketing year (18.2 million tons), UkrAgroConsult informs.

In May of MY2017/18, corn exports from Ukraine significantly decreased. 1.8 million tons were delivered to foreign markets, which is almost 21% less than the previous month, and 32% less than in May 2017.

There are changes in the geography of Ukrainian corn exports in the current season. Most of the key markets reduced the supply volumes. In September-May of MY2017/18 as compared with the relevant period last season, corn exports to the EU fell by 10%, to Egypt — by 31%, to Iran and Tunisia by 58% and 43%, respectively. Deliveries to South Korea were practically not carried out.

During the reporting period, China increased imports of Ukrainian corn by 182%. Turkey also increased purchases significantly — from 93.7 thou. tons last season to 997.4 thou. tons in the current one. Export deliveries to Israel increased by 14%.
