Corn exports declined 17% in Sep-May 2017/18

The rate of Ukrainian corn exports in the current season is the lowest over the past few years, UkrAgroConsult reports.

In September–May of MY2017/18, export shipments amounted to about 15 million tons, which is 17% less than in the corresponding period of the previous marketing year (18.2 million tons).

In May 2018, the rate of corn exports from Ukraine significantly decreased. 1.8 million tons were delivered to foreign markets, which is almost 21% less than in the previous month, and 32% less than in May of last year.

In September-May 2017/18, as compared with the relevant period last season, corn exports to the EU declined by 10%, to Egypt — by 31%, to Iran and Tunisia — by 58% and 43%, respectively. The deliveries to South Korea were practically not carried out.

Over the reporting period, China increased imports of Ukrainian corn by 182%. Turkey significantly increased its purchases: from 93.7 thou. tons last season, to 997.4 thou. tons in MY2017/18.

Reference: from the beginning of MY2018/19, as of July 11, 2018, Ukraine exported 555 thou. tons of grain, which is 63 thou. tons more than over the corresponding period last year.
