Global wheat production in 2018/19 to decrease by 8.43 mln t — USDA

The global wheat production forecast in MY2018/19 is reduced by 8.43 million tons as compared with the preceding forecast (744.69 million tons) to 736.26 million tons.

It is noted in the July USDA report that this projection is 21.66 million tons lower than the production volume in MY2017/18 (757.92 million tons).

Wheat production in 2018/19 should reach the following rates:

  • the USA — 51.21 mln t (+1.47 mln t);
  • Australia — 22 mln t;
  • Argentina — 19.5 mln t;
  • Canada — 32.5 mln t;
  • China — 128 mln t (–1 mln t).

The forecast for wheat production in Ukraine decreased by 1 million tons to 25.5 million tons, and exports — to 16.5 million tons.

Previously it was reported that since the beginning of MY2018/19, as of July 11, 2018, Ukraine exported 555 thou. tons of grain, which is 63 thou. tons more than over the relevant period of the previous marketing year.
