In MY 2017/18, Ukraine exported 429 thou. tons of wheat flour, which is 6% more y-o-y (402 thou. tons), APK-Inform writes.

"At the same time, the position of Ukrainian flour was strengthened in key sales markets. In particular, shipments to the markets of Central Africa increased by 55%, reaching 41 thou. tons at the end of the season. Deliveries to East Asian countries increased to 147 thou. tons (+ 31% vs last year's indicator)," experts point.

The following changes took place in the geography of deliveries:

  • China — increased imports by 43.4 thou. tons (53%);
  • the U.A.E. — increased by 20.2 thou tons (78%);
  • Singapore — a nine-fold increase to 18 thou. tons.
North Korea (DPRK) and Panama reduced wheat flour imports from Ukraine by 93% (27.1 thou. tons) and 74% (17.3 thou. tons), respectively.
"Re-export of Ukrainian flour by China to the DPRK almost completely compensated the reduction of direct supplies of the product from Ukraine to the North Korean market," the message says.
