August sugar shipments dropped 39%

In August of MY2017/18, the Ukrainian sugar producers supplied to foreign markets 22.4 thou. tons of beet sugar, the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) informs.

"As a rule, August is not a very active month in terms of exports, so we have a 39% drop in supplies as compared with the previous month," commented Ruslana Butylo, Head of the Analytical Department at NASU Ukrsugar.

The major deliveries in August were carried out to Uzbekistan — 79%. Shipments to Azerbaijan and Moldova stood at 10% and 6%, respectively.

In September-August 2017/18, sugar exports amounted to 560.4 thou. tons.

Previously it was reported that sugar production in MY2018/19 started on August 31. As of September 14, sugar production season started 13 refineries which have manufactured 41.1 tons of sugar so far.
