10% of sugar beet areas harvested in Ukraine

As of September 20, sugar beet is harvested from 27 thou. hectares, which makes up 10% of the total area under the crop.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informs that so far sugar beet harvest amounts to 1.3 million tons. The average productivity stands at 47.2 tons/ha.

As of the reporting date, agrarians harvested 37.9 million tons of grain and leguminous crops from 10.6 million hectares (72% of the forecast) with a productivity of 3.57 tons/ha.

The following yields are reported:

  • early grain and leguminous crops — 34.3 million tons from 9.9 million hectares with a productivity of 3.48 tons/ha;
  • corn — 3.2 million tons from 583 thou. hectares (13%) with a productivity of 5.54 tons/ha;
  • buckwheat — 89 thou. tons from 69 thou. hectares (64%) with a productivity of 1.29 tons/ha;
  • millet — 59 thou. tons from 37 thou. hectares (71%) with a productivity of 1.59 tons/ha.

Harvesting of industrial crops has reached the following results:

  • sunflower — 5.8 million tons from 2.7 million hectares (45%) with a productivity of 2.13 tons/ha;
  • soybean — 1 million tons from 437 thou. hectares (26%) with a productivity of 2.42 tons/ha;
  • rapeseed — 2.7 million tons from the area of 1 million hectares with a productivity of 2.61 tons/ha.

Previously it was reported that since the start of MY2018/19, as of September 19, 2018, Ukraine had exported 7.67 million tons of grain, which is 870 thou. tons less y-o-y.
