Ukrainian corn exports lower than anticipated

In October 2018, corn exports from Ukraine amounted to 1 million tons, which is below the level required to achieve the official export forecast in the current marketing year, Agritel reports.

However, in November, the pace of exports is expected to increase.

“Record production in 2018, estimated by our analysts at 34 million tons, supports the huge supply of Ukrainian corn on the foreign market. The EU has already begun actively purchasing grain from Ukraine and by October 1 had imported 1.87 million tons compared to 1.6 million tons in the same period last year. Reasonable prices should also provide increased increased demand for Ukrainian corn,” the report says.

Shipments to China and Turkey are also to be made.

In experts' opinion, in MY2018/19 Ukraine should produce 33.5 million tons of corn.
