Ukraine and Russia supplied 4.9 mln t of grain to North Africa

Since the start of MY2018/19 (July-October), almost 4.9 million tons of main grain crops (wheat and corn) have been exported from Ukraine and Russia to the countries of Northern Africa, APK-Inform writes.

The indicated volume is 6% higher y-o-y and stands at 4.6 million tons.

About 66% of grains were delivered by the Russian Federation and 34% — by Ukraine.

Egypt is traditionally the key importer in the region, which purchased about 74% of the grain of the total supply. The share of Egypt in the current season accounted for 34% of Ukrainian supplies and 91% of Russian grain supplies to the North African region.

Since the start of MY2018/19, as of December 5, Ukraine exported 19.05 mln tons of grain, which is 1.61 mln tons more than the indicator for the last year's comparative period.
