Ukraine authorized for the international sugar beet seeds trading
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) authorized Ukraine for participating fully in the international trade in sugar and fodder beet seeds. The initiator of this project was the SESVanderHave-Ukraine company.
On January 31, 2018, at a meeting of the OECD member countries, Ukraine was granted a relevant permission.
According to the representatives of SESVanderHave-Ukraine, in order to start direct exports, it is necessary to legally approve Ukraine’s membership in the OECD variety certification schemes. On August 16, 2018, the relevant schemes were provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, which performs the function of the developer of this bill in Ukraine.
“Taking into account the specifics of law making, after the official interpretation of international trade schemes for seeds of sugar and fodder beet, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy submits the draft law to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the President of Ukraine for approval. The agreed bill is submitted by the President to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament). In case of adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On accession to the schemes of international trade in seeds of sugar and fodder beet”, there is a need for a field inspection method. Also, to enter the markets of other countries, it is essential to have a quality laboratory of sugar beet seeds (dragees) according to І5ТА standards and to have an authority that certifies the compliance of varieties of seed material and issues the OECD Certificate,” the message says.
SESVanderHave-Ukraine plans to enter foreign markets, primarily European ones. More information about the prospects of international trade in sugar beet seeds can be found on the official website of SESVanderHave-Ukraine.
SESVanderHave-Ukraine is the only leading breeding company that was able to organize and continues to successfully produce sugar beet seeds in Ukraine over the last decade.
