Agrofusion froze the construction of a tomato processing plant on the border with Crimea

The Agrofusion group of companies refused to construct a plant for the processing of tomatoes in Kherson region because of emissions from the Crimean Titan plant which is located in Crimea annexed from Ukraine by the Russian Federation in February–March 2014.

This was stated in the annual report by the Chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration Andrei Gordeyev, Ukrinform reports.

“We must remember the challenges we had. For example, with Titan. We have a 99% ready investment project for the construction of a plant for processing tomatoes in the Chaplynka village. And it is a few kilometres away from the border with the annexed Crimea. And when those emissions occurred, the investors said: "No, we cannot start the construction there," said Andrei Gordeyev.

According to him, investors said that "the emissions may possibly affect the quality of products, which should then be exported to Europe."

Previously the company informed about the scheduled launch of a vegetable dehydration plant in the second half of 2019. The plant will produce a highly concentrated tomato product — tomato powder.
