CTS named top five private stevedoring companies 2018
The TOP-5 of the largest private stevedoring companies in Ukraine is headed by the TransInvestService company (TIS), which handled 25.7 million tons of cargo, yet it reduced transshipment volumes by 1.2% compared to 2017, CTS reports.
Five largest private stevedoring companies in Ukraine handled 46.7 million tons of cargo. The TOP-5 includes the following companies:
- TIS — 19% of the market, 25.7 million tons of cargo transshipment.
- Nika-Tera — in 2018 increased the volume of transshipment by 36.9% to 5.8 million tons, and holds the market share of 4.3%
- Brooklyn-Kyiv — 5.5 million tons and 4.1% of the market, having reduced the volume of transshipment by 19.4%.
- Mykolaiv Alumina Refinery Plant — 5.1 million tons of processed cargo, 3.8% of the market and an increase in handling of 0.3%.
- Container Terminal Odessa handled 4.6 million tons, which is 13.4% more than a year earlier. The market share is 3.4%.
By the USPA data, in 2018, private stevedoring companies transshipped 51.1 million tons of cargo at the berths of the USPA, which is 97.4% of the 2017 volume, and state stevedoring companies cargo handling exceeded 33.3 million tons (96%).
Ukrainian stevedoring companies (both state and private) handled 50.7 million tons (111.8%) at their own berths.
In 2018, cargo transshipment in ports increased by 2%. According to the USPA, the total volume of cargo handling in the seaports of Ukraine amounted to 135.2 million tons.
Previously it was reported that the seaports of Ukraine in January-November 2018 provided for the transshipment of 4 993 thou. tons of vegetable oils, which is 158.2 thou. tons less than over the corresponding period in 2017.
