80% of farmland in Ukraine remain uncontrolled

Out of 10.5 million hectares of state-owned agricultural land in Ukraine, only 1.4 million hectares are officially leased, and of these, only 0.1 million hectares are leased at market rates through auctions, EPravda reports.

“Less than 20% of all state lands are registered in the State Land Cadastre of Ukraine. More than 80% is not registered. As for state agricultural land, there is official information only about 1.6 million hectares registered in the StateGeoCadastre,” the report says.

On the official data, at the beginning of 2019, about 1.4 million hectares of state-owned land was leased to agricultural producers. About 550 thou. hectares are in the use of state enterprises, the lands of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) comprise about 450 thou. hectares.

In 2018, 650 united territorial communities (UTC) obtained more than 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land.
