Ukrainian seaports cargo turnover higher in January 2019

In January 2019, cargo turnover in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 11.1 million tons, 3.4 pct higher than in last year's comparative period, USPA reports.

The transshipment of export cargo stood at 8.7 million tons, up 12.5 pct from a year earlier. The volume of grain cargo transshipment accounted for 3.8 million tons (up 21.1 pct).

The volumes of imported cargo handling decreased by 23.3 pct as compared with January 2018 and amounted to 1.6 million tons.

“Kherson and Yuzhny seaports demonstrated an increase of more than 27 pct and 10 pct in cargo handling indicators, respectively. Transshipment volumes in the ports of Berdyansk, Chernomorsk, Odesa, Reni also improved," the message says.

In January 2019, the seaports of Ukraine proceeded 856 vessels, which is 57 units less than in January 2018.

As previously reported, on the territory of the commercial seaport of Reni (Odesa region), the investment project by Danube Prom Agro would be resumed in the current year.
