China intensified sunflower meal imports from Ukraine
In the first half of 2018/19 (September-February), Ukraine increased the export of sunflower meal to China 18 times to 633 thou. tons, as compared with the corresponding period last season (34 thou. tons), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.
“In the first months of 2019, a decline was observed in trade volumes of these products owing to China’s decline in consumer demand and purchase prices. In January and February, exports of sunflower meal to China stood at to 80 thou. tons against a maximum of 230 thou. tons in December 2018. By the preliminary data, in March there were practically no shipments. The deliveries did not exceed 1 thou. tons,” Julia Ivanitskaya, the oil markets analyst at APK-Inform, informs.
In the period from September to January 2018/19, Belarus reduced the import of sunflower meal from Ukraine by 27% (1.5x) to 169 thou. tons.
