Corn shipments in Ukrainian ports dropped by a quarter

In the period April 6-12, corn shipments from the Ukrainian seaports reduced to 592 thou. tons, 26 pct less from the previous week, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

According to the report, during the reporting period, 777 thou. tons of grain were shipped by seaports, 20 pct lower from the corresponding period in 2018 (968 thou. tons).

Wheat shipments dropped 10 pct to 156 thou. tons. Barley was not shipped in the reporting period.

The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Iran (139 thou. tons), China (86 thou. tons) and Egypt (76 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops in the current marketing year is held by the port of Mykolaiv (9.7 million tons). The ports of Chernomorsk and Yuzhny provided for the transshipment of 8.7 million tons and 7.2 million tons, respectively.

Previously it was reported that the Ukrainian corn had successfully replaced the US grain in the structure of Chinese commodity imports.
