Fewer sugar mills in Ukraine will start the new production season — Ukrsugar

The number of functioning sugar factories in Ukraine will decrease by 8 per cent to 34-35 enterprises in the coming production season 2019/20. This was informed by Ruslana Butylo, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar).

“We see a reduction in the areas under sugar beet in the current year, consequently this will affect the situation in autumn when significantly fewer sugar factories start up than in the season 2018/19. According to our estimates, 34-35 enterprises will be engaged in sugar production, while 42 were operating this season,” commented the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ukrsugar.
