Seaports boosted grain shipment by 60 pct

In the period of July 13 – 19, grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports stood at 819 thou. tons, 64 percent up from the previous week (499 thou. tons on the basis of updated data), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat exports in the indicated period increased 29 percent wk/wk to 285 thou. tons vs. 221 thou. tons.

According to the report, shipments of corn and barley grew to 356 and 178 thou. tons, respectively. Last week corn exports made up 187 thou. tons, barley — 91 thou. tons.

The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Jordan (126 thou. tons), Israel (95 thou. tons) and Italy (83 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (798 thou. tons). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 417 thou, tons, and Chernomorsk — 355 thou. tons.

As previously reported, by July 22nd harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine was carried out on the area of 6.6 million hectares or 68%. The crop reached 23.5 million tons.
