Record volume of grain traded on CME

The volume of options and futures contracts trading for the Black Sea wheat and corn on CME in July reached a new record — 27.07 thousand contracts, UkrAgroConsult informs.

In particular, futures trading for the Black Sea wheat amounted to 22.363 thousand contracts.

"In July, the volume of traded contracts was equivalent to 1.35 million tons of grain. In late July, the number of open positions reached a record 43 thousand contracts," the report says.

The market operators informed that on August 6th the General Authority For Supply Commodities (GASC) purchased 415 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine (115 thousand tons), Romania (60 thousand tons) and Russia (240 thousand tons) during the tender for September 5-15 delivery.
