Sunflower price in Ukraine reduces responding to low oil content

The first deliveries of sunflower to elevators and enterprises in Ukraine demonstrate low oil content (below 46%). Accordingly, that reflects on the purchase prices, Expert Agro informs.

Under the Expert Agro monitoring data, currently declared purchase prices of processors depending on the region and oil content are in the range of 9 200-10 300 UAH/t (EXW), 9 300-10 000 UAH/t (CPT), 9 550-10 200 UAH/t (CPT-port).

"Maximum and close to those prices were announced at the elevators of the port regions, whereas minimum and close to them — in the western Ukraine and regions where harvesting has not yet started. Sunflower with oil content higher than 46% is traded at more than 9 900 UAH/t at the elevator," the message says.

Experts note that the companies that declared the expectedly high purchase prices before the start of harvesting, today reduced them by 250-500 UAH/t when the quality of oilseeds was determined.

In ports (on the basis of CPT-port), sunflower of good quality (46% oil content and more) was traded with a bonus of at least 100 UAH/t to the declared price. Purchases at the maximum prices of 10 000-10 200 UAH/t implied the oil content of 46-50%.

Those market operators who fixed the price for sunflower in dollar equivalent demonstrated a USD 10 difference in price for sunseeds with oil content of 44% and 46% of 311 USD/ and 321 USD/t, respectively.

Spring wheat prices were dealing on their lowest levels for the last ten years with the selling pressure of producers increased by remaining volumes from the previous harvest.
