LANDFORT expects sunflower yield 40 pct higher from 2018
LANDFORT agriholding, a part of BKW Group, expects a higher yield of sunflower this season.
"Last year, sunflower yield in the company was at the level of 1,7 t/ha, this year we expect to get at least 2,2-2,5 t/ha," said Oksana Kondratyuk, company's CFO.
According to her, this year the region mostly had favourable weather conditions for sunflower production. However, a severe hail destroyed 200 ha of sunflower in one of the agricultural enterprises.
Oksana Kondratyuk adds that this year the company plans to sow sunflower on the area of 10.6 thou. ha. The reduction of sown areas under this crop from the previous year (16.9 thou. ha) is associated with an increase in sown areas of the grain group.
In the 2019/20 season, LANDFORT plans to sow 17 thou. ha of winter wheat (2018: 15 thou. ha) and 2.5 thou. ha of winter barley (2018: 1.5 thou. ha). The company is currently finalizing the winter rapeseed sowing.
