Ukraine soon to increase its monthly shipment capacity to a record high — Agritel

Ukraine could be very soon able to increase its monthly capacity of all-grains and oilseeds’ shipment to a record high, close to 6 mln t, the Agritel consultancy reports.

"During the week, a 140 000 tons new grain terminal has been inaugurated in Mykolaiv. It has been built by POSCO and OREXIM. This new facility comes after the recent opening of another new terminal in Pivdenny in order to reach 4.5 mln t of loading capacity per year. These improved facilities in ports will increase the pressure to bring cereals from the fields to the ports," the report says.

According to the message, the government is intending to reform the rail system toward privatization in 2020. This could give access to private trains on the rail network. Such measures could significantly smooth out the transport conditions and the logistic issues in the country, the consultancy notes.

Since the start of 2019/20, Ukraine exported 2.8 mln t of barley. As of September 27th, Ukraine delivered to foreign markets 13.04 mln t of grain and leguminous crops. Commodities shipment increased 4.3 mln t (1.5x) from the prior year's comparative period.
