Minister Mylovanov was offered USD 10 mln bribe for state enterprise head appointment

The Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Tymofiy Mylovanov was offered a USD 10 mln bribe for the appointment of one of the state enterprises head.

The Minister wrote on Facebook that that was the largest amount he had ever been offered.

"I refused dozens if not hundreds of such requests. Sometimes people ask mildly, sometimes they involve friends, then bribes are offered. At times they threaten politically, with media and even physically," he commented.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine published the size of ministerial salaries for the period of September-December 2019. The average salary of the Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Tymofiy Mylovanov reached UAH 83.947 (excluding a single payment financial assistance) in December, while in September 2019 he earned UAH 15.134. Thus, during one quarter the salary of the Minister increased by 5.5x.
