Sowing Online 2019/20: sunflower campaign 86% complete

As of May 7, early spring grain, leguminous and industrial crops in Ukraine were sown on an area of 13.34 mln ha or 86% of the planned 15.56 mln ha. Spring wheat, barley, oats, peas and sugar beet campaigns are complete.

Provided by the data of the Sowing Online 2019/20 Project, sown areas by spring crops are as follows:

  • wheat: 184.37 thou. ha, 100% of the planned 184.56 thou. ha;
  • barley: 1.51 mln ha, 100% of 1.516 mln ha;
  • oats: 185.35 thou. ha, 100% of 186.36 thou. ha;
  • peas: 281.64 thou. ha, 100% of 282.7 thou. ha;
  • corn: 4.66 mln ha, 86% of 5.39 mln ha;
  • buckwheat: 12.26 thou. ha, 16% of 75 thou. ha;
  • millet: 16.24 thou. ha, 21% of 78.01 thou. ha;
  • sugar beet: 206.68 thou. ha, 99% of 209 thou. ha;
  • sunflower: 5.35 mln ha, 86% of 6.2 mln ha;
  • soybean: 942.64 thou. ha, 65% of 1.45 mln ha.

Agricultural producers of Zaporizhzhya (319 thou. ha), Dnipropetrovsk (218 thou. ha) and Poltava (200 thou. ha) regions have reached the highest rates of planting this week.
