New crop estimate for Ivano-Frankivsk region improved on last year's

Despite the rainy weather, 24.5 thou. ha of grain and leguminous crops were threshed in Ivano-Frankivsk region as of 27 July, representing 16% of the planned areas. In the region, 124 thou. t of new crop were harvested using the average yield of 5.08 t/ha, Ivano-Frankivsk Region State Administration reports.

"Producers are completing the winter barley harvest. Despite continuous frosts in spring and frequent downpours in early summer, yields and gross yield estimates have been set. It is also important to store the crop properly. Grain elevators are sufficient in the region. Although the harvest campaign is delayed, we expect to harvest more grain than last year," commented Ivan Andriyshyn, the head of the Agricultural Development Department of the Region State Administration.

Crops harvested in the region on the reporting date:

  • winter barley: 63.9 thou. t on 12.6 thou. ha using the average yield of 5.07 t/ha
  • winter wheat: 57.6 thou. t on 11.8 thou. ha, 4.88 t/ha
  • winter rye: 0.4 thou. t on 0.12 thou. ha, 3.41 t/ha
  • peas: 0.46 thou. t on 0.145 thou. ha, 3.2 t/ha
