Corn production estimates remain high for Ukraine, despite dry weather — Agritel

In Ukraine, the corn has now successfully passed the pollination phase, but the weather has remained particularly dry since the ear formation process, the Agritel consultancy writes.

"Indeed, rainfall over the Ukrainian corn belt during the last two weeks has been rare. As a result, many local analysts have recently lowered their corn production estimates," the report reads.

However, while the numbers differ, they all remain convinced of a new record crop, the consultancy adds.

It is noted that during the week 15 to 20 mm of rain should ease crops over the main producing areas.

UGA specialists improved their forecast for corn crop up to 38.9 mln t (the previous forecast was set at 36.8 mln t), exports to 33 mln t. Last marketing year, Ukraine's corn harvest set a record of 35.2 mln t, while exports totalled 30.3 mln t.

As a reminder, in the 2019/20 season, corn export from Ukraine totalled 30.03 mln t.
