Potato import to Ukraine boosted 61% in 10M 2020

In January-October, potato import to Ukraine totalled 259.14 thou. t for the amount of USD 55.09 mln, 60.9% or 98.09 thou. t more from the prior year's comparative period (10M 2019: USD 32.4 mln, 161.05 thou. t).
According to the data of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, key potato exporting countries to Ukraine:
- Belarus: 113.89 thou. t, USD 24.21 mln, 43.95% of the total supply
- Netherlands: 57.14 thou. t, USD 12.15 mln, 22.05%
- Russia: 34.2 thou. t, USD 7.27 mln, 13.2%
- others: 53.92 thou. t, USD 11.46 mln, 20.81%
Potato export from Ukraine in 10M 2020 totalled 2.81 thou. t worth USD 849 thou.
In 2019, potato production worldwide reached 371 mln t, surging by 2.1% on the previous year. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2007 to 2019. The countries with the highest volumes of potato production in 2019 were China (93 mln t), India (51 mln t) and Ukraine (23 mln t), with a combined 45% share of global production.
