Health Ministry approved maximum permissible levels for chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine approved the maximum permissible levels (MPLs) for chlorpyrifos (CPS) and chlorpyrifos-methyl in agricultural products and foodstuffs at 0.01 mg/kg (mg/l), the Ministry Order No. 960 of 18 May 2021 provides.

The order comes into force on 1 January 2022.

The Health Ministry has approved changes to hygienic standards and regulations for the safe use of pesticides and agrochemicals approved by Ministry Order No. 55 of 2 February 2016, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 10 February 2016 No. 207/28337 (as amended by Order of the Ministry of Health of 28 May 2020 No. 1276).

MPLs for chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl are applicable to the following positions: cereals, apples and apple juice, sugar beet, soybeans and soybean oil, rapeseed and rapeseed oil, sorghum, sunflower and sunflower oil, corn and corn oil.

The Ministry suggested setting the MPLs for these pesticides in late March.
