Wheat stocks in September climb 47% YoY: state statistics

Grains and pulses stocks in Ukraine as of 1 October totalled 19.93 mln t, 29% or 4.5 mln t up YoY (Oct. 1, 2020: 15.43 mln t), the State Statistics Service data shows.

Wheat stocks as of the reporting date made up 14.16 mln t, 4.46 mln t or 47% above the previous year's comparative period. At the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, grain reserves amounted to 4.93 mln t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 9.53 mln t.

Under the statistical data, corn stocks were 30% down from last year's and amounted to 1.88 mln t (Oct. 1, 2020: 2.7 mln t), including 1.24 mln t accumulated by agricultural producers, and 634.5 thou. t at enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

Barley stocks in Ukraine in the reporting period increased by 25% from last year's and amounted to 2.55 mln t: at the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, stocks of barley amounted to 923.2 thou. t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 1.63 mln t.

Rye stocks grew by 40% YoY and made up 324.1 thou. t: 130.6 thou. t at specialized storage facilities and 193.5 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

The new crop progress in Ukraine as of 13 October came to 52.6 mln t of grains and legumes on 11.6 mln ha. The average yield made up 4.48 t/ha.

The USDA in its October report again left unchanged the projection of wheat production for Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine's corn projection for 2021/22 was revised downward.
