Spring crops planted in 23 regions of Ukraine

As of April 7, spring crops planting in Ukraine for the country's 2022 crop is projected to be conducted on 13.6 mln ha of controlled territory, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports.

The current season's planted area is 3.268 mln ha short from 2021. 23 regions have joined the campaign. In Luhansk region, military actions are now undertaken in most of the area.

Spring crops planted on the reporting date (thou. ha):

  • wheat: 113.5
  • barley: 550.8
  • rapeseed: 11.6
  • oats: 81
  • peas: 82.5
  • sugar beet: 55.2
  • sunflower: 108.1
  • soybean: 14.1
  • corn: 13.6
  • buckwheat: 0.2
  • millet: 0.2

For the country's 2022 crop, winter grains and rapeseed were sown on 7.7 mln ha, 0.4 mln ha more from the 2021 sown area:

  • wheat and triticale: 6.5 mln ha, 0.4 mln ha more from 2021
  • rapeseed: 1.024 mln ha, 143 thou. ha more
  • barley: 1 mln ha, 45 thou. ha more
  • rye: 159 thou. ha, 34 thou. ha more
