Seven regions in Ukraine start winter crops planting

Winter crops planting for the 2023 harvest has gained momentum in Ukraine. Seven regions have started winter grains sowing in Ukraine. As of September 5, winter wheat was planted on 5.17 thou. ha, winter barley on 2 thou. ha and winter rye on 0.47 thou. ha, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports.

Agriproducers in Chernihiv region have planted winter crops on 3.4 thou. ha, in Vinnytsya region on 1.9 thou. ha, and in Lviv on 1.1 thou. ha.

"With weather conditions being favourable for winter crops planting, agricultural producers in all regions of Ukraine are sowing winter rapeseed. The crop has been planted on 686 thou. ha already," the ministry adds.

On the reporting date, winter rapeseed sown areas by regions:

  • Dnipropetrovsk: 87.9 thou. ha
  • Odesa: 72 thou. ha
  • Ternopil: 63.7 thou. ha
  • Vinnytsya: 58.2 thou. ha
  • Kirovohrad: 55.9 thou. ha

Winter rapeseed planting has been completed in Volyn, Rivne, Ternopil, Cherkasy and Chernivtsi regions.
