Sunflower harvest in Ukraine crosses 1.5 mln t, 20% of area cropped

As of September 29, grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine yielded 26.1 mln t on 6.841 mln ha, which is 61% of the planned area (2021: 67%, 10.74 mln ha), the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports. The average yield of the crops is 3.83 t/ha (2021: 4.38 t/ha).

  • wheat: 19.2 mln t on 4.7 mln ha (99%), avg. yield 4.1 t/ha
  • barley: 5.5 mln t on 1.6 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 3.47 t/ha
  • rapeseed: 3.1 mln t on 1.1 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 2.88 t/ha
  • peas: 250.7 thou. t on 109.4 thou. ha (98%), avg. yield 2.29 t/ha
  • millet: 73.7 thou. t on 32.8 thou. ha (73%), avg. yield 2.25 t/ha
  • buckwheat: 76.7 thou. t on 52.5 thou. ha (45%), avg. yield 1.46 t/ha
  • sunflower: 1.565 mln t on 943 thou. ha (20%), avg. yield 1.66 t/ha
  • corn: 152.8 thou. t on 39.4 thou. ha (0.9%), avg. yield 3.87 t/ha
  • soybean: 375 thou. t on 153 thou. ha (10%), avg. yield 2.45 t/ha
  • sugar beet: 1 mln t on 21.3 thou. ha (12%), avg. yield 48.4 t/ha

USDA projects wheat output in Ukraine in 2022/23 at 19.5 mln t, corn at 30 mln t, and sunflower at 10.5 mln t.
