Winter crop planting 94% completed in Ukraine

Winter grains sowing in Ukraine has covered 4.451 mln ha, 93.7% of the planned areas, as of November 28 (2021: 7.7 mln ha).

Seven regions of Ukraine — Vinnytsya, Volyn, Kyiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi — have completed winter crops planting for the 2023 harvest. Fieldwork is close to the end in Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattya regions.

Winter rapeseed planting for the 2023 harvest exceeded the planned areas. The crop covers 998.9 thou. ha, 103.6% of the proj. area (2021: 1.02 mln ha), the Agrarian Ministry reports.

Planting progress by crops:

  • wheat: 3.758 mln ha, 94.2% (2021: 6.5 mln ha)
  • barley: 612.5 thou. ha, 90.6% (2021: 1 mln ha)
  • rye: 79.2 thou. ha, 92.5% (2021: 159 thou. ha)
