Middle East and Africa received over half of total Ukraine wheat shipment via grain corridor

Ukraine has shipped 47-48% of its total wheat exports to the Middle East and Africa since the grain corridor was opened, states the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskiy in an interview with Mind.

A considerable quantity of wheat was exported to Türkiye, which stands as a grain hub for Ukrainian products. Commodities were transshipped there for the countries of Africa and the Middle East.

"Another point is that large volumes of Ukrainian wheat are traditionally processed into flour in Turkish ports. Türkiye's flour milling business is one of the world's strongest, with facilities located in all major harbours. So, some of our wheat, already milled into flour, also was delivered to Africa," Solsky adds.

Since the launch of the grain corridor, Ukraine has shipped about 20% of its wheat to Asia and about a third to Europe.
