Grain deal extended for another two months, says Turkish President Recep Erdogan

The grain deal due to expire on 18 May was extended for another 60 days, President of Türkiye Recep Erdogan announced today.

"Through the efforts of our country, the support of our russian friends and the support of our Ukrainian friends, it was agreed to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative for another 2 months," Erdogan wrote on Twitter.

According to him, the russians vowed not to prevent Turkish ships from leaving the ports of Mykolaiv and Olvia.

Erdogan thanked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for constructive cooperation and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for his efforts in this matter.
