russia ends up with no fleet if it continues attacks on Ukrainian ports: President Zelenskyy
russia may lose its ships if its army continues to attack Ukrainian ports, stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Latin American media.
Responding to a question about the recent attacks by Ukrainian naval drones on russian ships, he assured that if the enemy blocks the export of Ukrainian grain (after withdrawing from the agreement that allowed it), "we have to find ways to stop it." He also compared the current situation to a chess game in which "russia is not winning."
The President added that if russia continues to dominate and block the Black Sea, Ukraine will start doing the same. He stressed that Ukraine has the right to import and export products in its territorial waters.
"We don't have as many weapons, but if they keep firing, they may lose their ships by the end of the war," Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded.
On August 4, Ukraine attacked russia's landing ship, Olenegorsk Gorniak, with a naval kamikaze drone. It was badly damaged and banked. It is currently in the port of novorossiysk.
An oil tanker sailing under the flag of russia, SIG, was attacked by a naval kamikaze drone on August 5. The vessel was in Ukraine's territorial waters south of the Kerch Strait. The ship's engine room flooded. The vessel was not loaded at the moment of the attack.
