russia strikes Odesa port with cluster ballistic missile, two killed — officials
On July 3, russia attacked Odesa, striking port infrastructure, Odesa Region Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said.
“A ballistic cluster missile hit the port infrastructure. Unfortunately, two people were killed and three injured; they are receiving medical assistance. One of the victims was a truck driver, and the identity of the other is being established,” Kiper said, adding that more details on the injured will be provided later.
According to Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, an Iskander missile hit the area near one of the berths of the Odesa seaport. At the time, workers were unloading metal from a foreign vessel sailing the flag of São Tomé and Príncipe.
“Two people were killed: one was a docker-mechanic, and the other a truck driver. Our sincere condolences to their families. Six more people were injured, including employees of a port operator and a truck driver. Two Syrian citizens, crew members of the civilian vessel, were also among the injured. They are receiving all necessary assistance,” Kuleba wrote in Telegram.
Infrastructure at the port was also damaged, including gantry cranes, equipment, and warehouses.
