russia attacked general cargo loaded with corn in Ukraine's port of Pivdenny
On the night of October 6, the civilian vessel PARESA sailing under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis was damaged during a nighttime russia's drone and missile attack at one of the berths in the port of Pivdenny, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reports.
The ballistic missile hit the open hold of the ship loaded with corn. The vessel was carrying about 6,000 tons of Ukrainian corn, which was due to leave for Italy the next morning. None of the 15 crew members, citizens of Egypt and Syria, were injured.
Following the attack on the vessel, russia claimed to have destroyed the military cargo, the USPA said.
"However, as before, this information is false. Photos from the scene clearly show the true nature of the cargo. This incident is yet another proof that russia continues its grain terror, aiming to decrease Ukraine's export capabilities, and keeps on threatening global food security," the message reads.
