Kernel ups oilseed crushing in FY2025, annual oil sales down 5%
Kernel processed 952,000 t of oilseeds in Q4 FY2025, up 13% compared to the previous quarter and in line with last year’s figure, the company reported.
The growth was driven by more active sales from farmers, who began selling off previously stored stocks. Of the total volume processed:
-
852,000 t was sunflower seed,
-
71,000 t — soybeans,
-
29,000 t — rapeseed.
Total oilseed crushing in FY2025 (ended 30 June 2025) reached 3.5 mln t, up 8% y/y. According to the company, this result was made possible by greater flexibility in the sourcing mix, including alternative oilseeds, which partly offset limited sunflower seed supply on the domestic market.
Sales of bottled and bulk edible oil amounted to 381,000 t in Q4, up 10% quarter-on-quarter and matching last year’s level, supported by stable processing volumes. In total, Kernel sold 1.4 mln t of edible oil in FY2025, down 5% y/y. Of the quarterly volume, 17,000 t was bottled sunflower oil.
Grain exports in the final quarter of the financial year fell 38% q/q to 984,000 t due to tightening supply toward the end of the season. Total grain exports from Ukraine in FY2025 stood at 5.4 mln t, nearly unchanged from the previous year.
Reflecting the slower pace of grain exports, the company’s terminal throughput dropped 28% q/q and 20% y/y in Q4, to 1.8 mln t. Of this volume:
-
61% was grain,
-
22% — edible oils,
-
the rest — oilseed meals.
Throughout the financial year, Kernel’s export terminals handled 9.1 mln t of products, up 36% from the previous year.
