Potato Agro building plant to produce 180,000 t of potato flour and fries annually
Ukrainian company Potato Agro is constructing a plant to process potatoes into potato flour and frozen French fries, company director Olha Lonska told AgroPortal.ua.
Construction is already underway, with part of the equipment delivered to the site. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 150,000–180,000 tons.
According to Lonska, only 2–3 potato varieties suitable for French fries production are currently listed in Ukraine’s State Register. The company is testing other varieties to determine their suitability for local growing conditions.
“Almost no one in Ukraine is engaged in growing potatoes for French fries production, so we decided to gain this experience. Of course, we are not doing this alone, but involving colleagues from the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers,” Lonska said.
This season, part of the harvest will be directed towards producing dry potato mix, with the relevant processing line expected to be launched in early 2026.
