Despite weather challenges, Ukraine’s rapeseed harvest exceeds 3 MMT
Ukraine is completing its rapeseed harvest. As of August 14, 93% of the planned area (1.273 million ha) has been harvested, yielding more than 3 million tons, UkrAgroConsult reported.
According to expert forecasts, Ukraine’s export potential for the 2025/26 marketing year is as follows:
-
Rapeseed: down 26% compared to 2024/25;
-
Rapeseed oil: up 18%;
-
Rapeseed meal: up 34%.
The autumn rapeseed planting campaign began with delays due to severe moisture deficits in southeastern regions. As a result, the total planted area declined by 130,000 ha compared to two years earlier. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, 1.123 million ha were sown with rapeseed, said Olivier Bouillet, Head of Analytics and Insights at ASAP Agri, in a comment to Latifundist.com.
“The current forecast ranges between 3.2–3.5 million tons, down from 3.75 million tons harvested in 2024/25,” the expert noted.
Spring frosts in April forced farmers to re-cultivate part of their winter rapeseed fields. Due to overwintering losses, frosts, and replanting, many farms lost part of their acreage, and expected yields will be below average, said Pavlo Khaustov, Head of Analytics at Barva Invest. However, he added that external demand for Ukrainian rapeseed will not decline but rather increase, particularly from the European Union.
